Christmas is around the corner

It's that time of year again that I look forward to- hot chocolate, gingerbread houses, ice skating, and more! Christmas stockings are a must! They don't have to be expensive, they can be hand made from so many materials; recycled socks or sweaters, and even made from burlap.

Easy & Warm pastry puff meal

My little sis is quite the chef.  She always creates healthy and hearty recipes all on her own.  I thought i'd share one of her latest creations (since she swears it's so easy).
She Writes: I just made the easiest, BEST dinner ever!  I thawed puff pastry and added diced turkey breast (raw - it bakes in the oven), minced garlic, s&p, a little feta, some sun dried tomatoes, and a huge handful of fresh spinach! Then I just sealed it in a pouch and put an egg wash over it and it was done in 37 mins at 375 degrees!! :)
Thanks Bren- can't wait to try this with chicken too.

Decorating with Veggies

I love Autumn.  It might be my favorite time of year.  It's not too hot, and it's not too cold-perfect for me.  I also like decorating with things you find in your every day life, like pumpkins, or gourds, or some bizarre squash creature in a salmon color with green stripes.  I really am obsessed with this little pinkish pumpkin from whole foods- it was only 2 bucks. It's much prettier in person, you have to believe me.  Not everything is expensive in this beautiful grocery store.  Just stay away from the makeup aisle there and the herbal section if you don't want to go bankrupt!  ;-)  I would know.

Dresser Upgrade

It has been awhile since I posted.  I've been busy growing vegetables, chasing my toddler away from bees nests, wiping up melted popsicles and switching the master bedroom to the toddler bedroom and vise versa.  It wasn't as easy as it looked.  But now that R. is in a bigger room, life is easier in other parts of the house.  All the toys fit into one space so you won't see us stepping on baseballs and fire engines during dinner.  I included a few pics from summer- my favorite is that our shabby chic dresser with the pink knobs has officially lost its original coat of paint.  I always liked blue for dressers...

The Lettered Cottage Influence

AFTER (see below) !!!!

(me and my munchie at Cherry Lawn Park)
That sweet gal at the Lettered Cottage Blog has been on my mind for days.  I finally decided to copy her budget friendly re-do until I could afford new cabinets with french doors.  I can dream....  In the mean time, I ripped off some cabinet doors and painted with some leftover paint in the basement.  It took awhile to arrange the glass and porcelain (yay target!) nicely, but I think I did it? Feedback is welcome.

Is this the SAME room?

The most proud before and after attic bedroom!  Paint and furniture make all the difference in the world.  And time of course.  Not to mention a few 'tag sales' as we like to call garage sales in the New York area. :)

Farm House Sink before and after

We have come a long way from the grime!  Sink is painted in Glidden's gentle tide.
